Retirement Party

If you would like to host your retirement party in one of the most splendid and history-rich venues in all of DuPage County, The Danada House may be the perfect place. The gracious 19-room country home is an ideal venue for retirement parties and other special events. Built in 1939, the expansive estate was home to thoroughbred horse breeders Daniel and Ada Rice. Danada was also home to Lucky Debonair; the thoroughbred jockeyed to Kentucky Derby victory by Willy Shoemaker in 1965. Today the property is home to the Danada Equestrian Center, the Danada Model Farm, a 36-acre fishing lake, a heron rookery and three miles of preserved prairie and woodland trails.

Not only were Daniel and Ada brilliant horse breeders, they were also charitable and philanthropic people. The Rice Foundation continues to support a range of good causes including programs that fund the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago History Museum and the Lyric Opera Company of Chicago.

Today, the facility and grounds at 3S501 Naperville Road in Wheaton, Illinois are owned by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and operated by the non-profit group Friends of Danada. The facility is clean, comfortable and spacious enough to host parties of up to 250 guests in the Atrium. Smaller parties of up to 70 are invited to reserve the house and patios for their celebration.
