Memorial Services

Planning a memorial service is especially difficult in a time of sadness and profound loss. Since it is not something many people think about often, coming up with location ideas for a memorial service can be challenging. Danada House is recognized as an outstanding venue for significant events. Its position on the 780-acre Forest Preserve District of DuPage County provides a stunning natural backdrop for these occasions.

Nature and history create a stage upon which to produce a lasting memorial. Danada House marries the new and the old by offering the latest in technology as well as a storied past. A series of rooms once lived in and used by Ada and Daniel F. Rice to entertain are now home to one of the most requested venues for memorial services in DuPage County.

In 1939, the couple built the white brick, 19-room home. These rooms have history and respect built into them as the couple was well-known in Chicago and throughout the State for their contribution to Illinois business as well as their tireless philanthropic efforts. Today, in addition to their name remaining on many other sites around Chicago, their foundation still exists and provides assistance to needy children and families.

What was once the dining room, library, living room and two porches of the main home can accommodate up to 70 people for a small memorial service. The atrium comfortably seats up to 250 guests and features large windows that connect visitors to the surrounding landscape. But, your group does not have to be big. Danada House also welcomes small gatherings throughout the library, living room and porches. You can even meet around the fireplace for tea.

Memorial service guests and participants will experience graceful hospitality in keeping with the building’s history while enjoying all of today’s modern conveniences. The site is home to many different kinds of events so the staff is prepared to accommodate any food or technology requests needed.

In the event that your memorial service requires overnight guests, Danada House is conveniently located. It is east of Naperville Road one mile south of Butterfield Road and near I-88. Many overnight accommodations are nearby, and guests have access to the best of Chicago or suburban tourist sites as well as Forest Preserve attractions such as golf, picnics and hiking trails.

A natural warm environment will welcome the guest of your memorial service at Danada House. When thinking about where to hold a memorial service there are many options. Danada House and its staff have demonstrated experience with significant events of all sizes. The accommodating facility and photogenic grounds connect visitors to history and the environment while being well-known for its elegant events.
