Birthday Parties

Birthday parties at Danada House can evoke the do-it-yourself spirit of the outdoors or evoke elegance and sophistication. It is up to you. The natural beauty of the 780-acre Forest Preserve District of DuPage County as a backdrop affords you the opportunity to plan any kind of birthday party you want.

In 1939 Ada and Daniel F. Rice built the 19-room home that currently makes up the main venue. An atrium has since been added that can accommodate a larger group of guests. Most noteworthy about Danada House is its coupling of the charms of bygone days and modern conveniences to create a pretty and fun environment for groups of all sizes, even parties of up to 250 people. Since its backdrop is the lovely Danada Forest Preserve and its campus boasts a main “house” and atrium, the beauty of this venue is available to party guests all year, regardless of what the Chicago weather has to offer.

Another well-ordered feature, especially for children (or adults!) who like horses, is the property’s equestrian history. Prior to the property’s sale in 1980 to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Danada House was home farm to 1965 Kentucky Derby winner Lucky Debonair, ridden by jockey Bill Shoemaker. Ada and Daniel Rice were also avid horse enthusiasts. They raced thoroughbreds, including Lucky Debonair, and Daniel Rice was a member of the Board of Directors of Arlington Racetrack.

Today, as a neighbor to Danada House, the active forest preserve is also home to the Danada Equestrian Center as well as a 35-acre prairie restoration initiative. Guests at Danada House are privy to all of the beautiful indigenous wildlife of Illinois including many birds, trees and grasses protected by the Forest Preserve District.

As far as first birthday party planning, outdoor birthday party planning, or, really, any kind of birthday party planning, the history and habitat of Danada House do not fall short of creative ideas. The legendary space is flexible and accommodating.

When planning a children’s birthday party, don’t forget the nearby tourist sites as well as Forest Preserve attractions such as golf, picnics and hiking trails, and tours of a working farm. Many of these adjacent attractions can accompany an entire day of fun-filled day of birthday party activities. Conveniently located east of Naperville Road and less than a mile away from I-88, Danada House is easy to drive to from Chicago and centrally located to anyone in the surrounding suburbs. And, if you have out of town guests, there are plenty of places to stay overnight just adjacent to Danada House. Birthday parties at Danada House are a fun and beautiful way make someone’s big day very special.
